The Chelsea Yacht Club is making preparations for its annual Youth Sailing Program, to be held June 29 – July 17, 2009 and July 27- Aug 14, 2009. The program ends with a fun day of racing and a family BBQ on August 15, 2009.

The program’s focus is on children between the ages of 10 and 18 who want to learn or improve their sailing skills. Its goal is to foster a life-long learning experience that will continue to encourage growth in the sport of sailing, develop self-confidence, encourage teamwork, and promote sportsmanship. The program bolsters children’s water safety skills, basic to advanced boat handling and racing skills, and seamanship. The primary objective is to enhance individual skills and knowledge of sailing through a structured program in a safe environment. Our counselors are US Sailing-certified instructors and have taken both first aid and CPR.

Registration will begin with an ice cream social on February 26. Returning sailors and siblings should register before March 1 to obtain a slot preference. CYC family members will be given slot preferences until March 15. Open registration begins on March 16. First-time sailors are required to sign up for two consecutive weeks.
