Youth Sailing Program
The Chelsea Yacht club is making preparations for their annual Youth Sailing Program, to be held June 30 – July 25, 2008. The program’s focus is on children between the ages of 10 and 16 who are interested in learning or improving their sailing skills. The program bolsters children’s water safety skills, basic to advanced boat handling and racing skills, and seamanship. The primary objective is to enhance individual skills and knowledge of sailing. To this end, counselors are US Sailing-certified instructors and have taken both first aid and CPR. Our hope is that the program will foster a life-long learning experience that will continue to encourage growth in the sport of sailing, develop self-confidence, encourage teamwork, and promote sportsmanship. Returning sailors should register before March 4 to obtain slot preference. Member families will be given slot preference until March 31. After March 31 all slots are open to any registration.
